About our custom builds

• Our method

  We operate a little differently than other computer builders. Instead of offering a handful of pre-selected hardware configurations, we utilize our knowledge to select the optimal load-out for your needs.

• The hardware

  Rather than keeping a stock of items, we order hardware from retail or the manufacturer as needed. While this can make our service slightly slower than others, we have zero markup and zero cost for storage, so our customers get the full benefit of any drop in hardware prices.

• Our guarantee

  We guarantee our work for the full duration of the manufacturer's warranty for each piece of hardware. In the event a part needs to be returned to the manufacturer, we waive our price for diagnostics and swapping out the defective hardware with the replacement.

Why choose a custom computer

• Longer hardware warranties

  Hardware manufacturers often offer a warranty of 3 years or more. Some items, like memory sticks, are even covered for life.

• Greater upgradeability

  The hardware used in pre-built computers very often does not follow standards. This can limit or even make upgrades impossible.

• No bloatware

  The software that is installed on pre-built computers is often of little usefulness and can use 10% or more of the CPU.

The steps to a custom computer build

After acquiring enough information on your target budget and what you would like the computer to be able to do, we will begin the process listed below.

1. Research and design

   We first use our computer knowledge to determine where performance is most important to your needs. Next, we select the hardware that would give you the best possible performance without exceeding the budget you specified. Once we have finalized the selection, we then submit an invoice for your approval.

2. Order and assembly

   Upon approval of the invoice, we place orders for the selected hardware. When the hardware arrives, we take every precaution to ensure they are undamaged and properly installed.

3. Operating system installation

   Unless an older version is requested, we acquire and install the latest version of the operating system you have chosen.

4. Driver installation

   We acquire and install the latest versions of each driver. This is important for proper hardware function.

5. Firmware updates

   We acquire and apply the latest versions of each firmware. Firmware updates often fix security and performance issues, so they are an important task for any computer.

6. Hardware testing

   Arguably the most important thing to do for newly purchased hardware is testing. We examine everything from airflow to voltages to ensure each component is working properly in every detail.
